This is the view of the kitchen from the loft.
Looking at the kitchen from the seating area of the great room. Lousy photo so you really can't see but the cabinets are knotty beech. Doors are off too but that's the point that we are at today.

We had someone else build the steps and Wade built the railing. We've been really busy at the house. Took some pictures today to show you. They are full of dust so not the best photos but you can get an idea how it's shaping up.
Looks like it's starting to come together. What is the column in the corner of the kitchen? Are the niches designed or afterthought? Is that a speaker or what? Can you post a layout of the cabinets so I can see the design?

The column is a dead corner--originally I had thought I would put trash and recycle chutes into the basement but there is a pipe in the way. But it eliminates a couple of expensive cabinets that are also difficult to access. The long niche was planned, the shorter one was a mistake that I may or may not allow to remain. The long one will get shelves for mugs or something. I will attempt to scan in a layout for you to see. And the speaker is part of Wade's surround sound system--nearly the only thing that he changed in the plan.
