As Requested--hope you can see it

If you need a bigger picture, guess I'll have to email it to you. But you can probably capture it from here.

  1. OK, I see it. What's it say? Your terminology is different than what I'm used to, so I will hazard some guesses. Ready?

BFD means Base Full Door, in other words, no drawers.
FHB means ??? The only thing I can come up with is that it is another way of saying full height door, or the same thing as BFD.

Since you didn't designate it, I assume the item above the range is a 36" stand-alone hood. Will it have a chimney or is it re-circulating?

I also assume that you dropped the wall cabinets by 2" because both you and Wade are short and wanted easier access.

What type of counter will you be using? Where will you put the microwave?

  2. BFD and FHB mean the same thing--base cabinet with doors only.

The hood will be decorative with a light. The design is in my head only and keeps changing so once I settle on an idea......... It won't vent as power vents will affect the draft of the fireplace. And I find recirculating hoods do nothing but make noise and I never use the one that I have.

We're not short!!! But yes, the 16" backsplash makes it easier to reach the top shelf. Some cabinet companies use a 32" high wall cab as standard for a 7' finish. I like the proportion but certain countertop appliances are too tall. Since we have a lot of open space, that's not a concern.

The microwave and toaster oven will sit on the FHB that is 48" tall. I put a wood top on it so it has the appearance of a large "jelly cupboard".

We are doing a granite countertop--Giallo Veneziano--except for a section of maple butcher block to the left of the sink.

  3. You probably already know this but if you right click on the image and select "view the image", you can get just that on the screen. Then hold down "ctrl" key and hit the + sign to make it larger. Then all you have to do is decipher my scribble.

  6. So what are you doing on the walls of the bedroom and rest of house? Painting, papering?? And new prospects on the "old House"?

  7. Painting--the great room is a pale yellow called "Kansas grain" with hardwood flooring. Bedroom is called "brown buzz" but it looks sage to me and the carpet is gray. Bathroom is "cafe latte" with terracotta tile on the floor and a gray and peachy marble for the tub deck. Mudroom is a terracotta called "Miami spice" and the floor hasn't been selected. I saw one wallpaper border with wild horses on it that I'm thinking of ordering. And I got a new comforter set at Kmart. That's pretty much it so far.

Quite a few "lookers" recently but no offers. Only objection that we've heard is that a couple of the ceilings are too low for tall men. Nothing we can do to change that so we have to sell to shorter people I guess.
